Relay For Life Stockport today announced the date for their 2014 event - it will take place from 12 noon on Saturday 7th June to 12 noon on Sunday 8th June.
Event chair Neil Commins explained the reasons behind the earlier than usual date next time around.
"Unfortunately Stockport rugby club, where our relay has been held so successfully for the past 8 years, are now holding a large marquee event of their own each June. Our 2013 event ended up somewhat compromised by being a week after this - with various issues over food and facilities being unavailable. In order to avoid this, the rugby club have only given us one option this year - that being June 7th and 8th. The committee considered looking for another venue, but in the end we've decided to go for the earlier week. Hopefully that won't inconvenience any of our amazing team captains."
