Fundraisers this weekend

With just over six weeks to go now until Relay, here's your latest info from the committee...

We're now working on the 'Relay Programme' - the wonderful, entertaining, amusing and informative booklet you receive each year.  We will be printing at least 1000 of these beautiful things to give out to team members, on the day visitors and plenty of other people out and about in the Cheadle and Stockport area.  We need your support to make this happen.  If you happen to have or know of a business that would like to support Relay For Life Stockport, you can advertise in our programme at bargain rates - £30 for half a page, £50 for a full page.  It's a great way to get your company known to Relayers and a nice bit of PR in supporting Cancer Research UK.  To advertise please contact Daniel on the Stockport Relay facebook page or email Neil atneil@necomgames.com

Next we would like to tell you about two fundraisers that are happening this balmy bank holiday weekend.  Firstly, on Friday night,  The Over the Hill Gang will be holding their own mini-Relay at Styal Country Park. Teams of 4 (with a cost of £5 per team member) will between them complete 4 half-mile laps. Walking or running is permitted, so it would be great to see some of you there, whether to take part or just to support. However, the relay is a race - the winning team will win a gallon of beer!

And secondly ..Michelle Ruane Rowbotham of Team Pacey Stockport is holding a garden party at her house in Offerton (71 Clovelly Road - not 21 as I accidentally typed in the email - Offerton) - complete with raffle, balloon release, stalls, BBQ and cocktails on bank holiday Monday (25th May).

More details on this and everything else we do can be found on the Relay For Life Stockport Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/RelayForLifeStockport.  Please do go along and support these amazing events.  It's amazing what our teams are doing this year - as just one example, Team For The Love Of Philly raised more than £1700 with an Irish ceiligh night last weekend in Marple.

Thank you to all those who came to the team meeting on Monday evening, it was fantastic to see everyone again.  I'll send out a separate email in a week or so with all the details from Bruce, Conor and Mel - they had plenty to say about the on the day entertainments and activities, and important things they're asking you to decorate and bring along, so look out for that soon.  Great meeting, and it's fantastic to see our fundraising total which is rocketing up towards the £20,000 mark already!  You're all incredibly amazing relayers.

We have two meetings to tell you about in June.  On Monday 8th June at Cheadle Cricket Club is a survivorship meeting at 7:30pm, and a candle of hope evening at 8pm.  Survivors should have received an invitiation to the 7.30 meeting from Joyce - if you have any in your team can you please make sure they know about it.  As for the 8pm meeting - please bring as many team members as you can. it's an opportunity to drop off candle bags if you've already completed them, but is a great chance to spend some time decorating and commemorating bags - we'll have all sorts of resources available for you to use to make this years candle bags extra special.

On Monday 15th June is our final team night.  This will be the evening when you get to pick your team camping plot, so if you don't come along then you might not get the plot you want!  We'll also be discussing plans for the day, you'll get the final entertainments schedule and can ask any questions you have of the committee and in particular the logistics team.

Wonderful, thanks for taking the time to read this rather lengthy email - any questions as always you can email me, phone or text (07581 419911) and you can contact Daniel via our facebook page.

All the very best, looking forward to seeing everyone at Relay 2015
